Lead Paint Inspections with the SciAps XRF Analyzer
Accurate, efficient detection of lead in paint, soil, and more using the SciAps XRF Analyzer
Lead Inspection Services with XRF Analyzer Technology
Fast, Accurate Lead Testing for Safety and Compliance
We offer professional lead inspection services using the SciAps X-550 XRF analyzer—a high-performance, handheld device. Whether you’re ensuring compliance with HUD, EPA, OSHA, or industrial standards, we deliver fast, on-site testing with lab-quality accuracy.
Our technology detects lead in paint, soil, dust, and other materials. It’s ideal for residential, commercial, and industrial environments.
Why We Use the SciAps X-550 Analyzer
The SciAps X-550 is one of the lightest and most powerful XRF analyzers available. It’s built for field use—even in harsh environments—and includes advanced features for accurate testing.
Key features include:
A 50kV Rhodium X-ray tube for fast and accurate results
A high-resolution Silicon Drift Detector (SDD) for precise readings
Three beam settings to detect elements from phosphorus (P) through lead (Pb)
Auto-calibration with a built-in stainless steel reference to ensure accuracy
A protective mesh to guard sensitive internal parts
Dual cameras (macro and micro) to document test locations
Android operating system with intuitive interface
Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS for easy data sharing and mapping
What We Test and How
Our XRF analyzer is adaptable for different testing environments. We use custom software apps designed to meet regulatory standards.
1. Lead Paint Testing (HUD App)
This app is optimized for HUD-compliant inspections. It’s used to test painted surfaces in homes, schools, and public buildings.
PCS Mode: Automatically stops testing when lead is confirmed above or below the action level of 1.0 mg/cm² with 95% confidence. This saves time while ensuring accuracy.
OSHA/IH Mode: Offers more sensitive testing with detection limits as low as 0.01 mg/cm², ideal for workplace safety and industrial hygiene.
2. Soil Testing (Environmental App)
We test for lead and other harmful metals in soil. This is essential for environmental assessments and cleanup projects.
Identifies EPA priority metals like arsenic, mercury, cadmium, and lead
Supports safety evaluations on construction sites, playgrounds, and contaminated land
Meets EPA standards for soil testing and reporting
3. Dust and Surface Testing (OSHA/IH App)
We also test for lead on surfaces, in air filters, and in dust samples. This is vital in workplaces where employees may be exposed to lead.
Detects extremely low levels of lead—down to 0.01 mg/cm²
Ensures compliance with OSHA’s Permissible Exposure Limits (PEL)
Helps employers maintain a safe, compliant work environment
4. Metal Composition Testing (Fast Alloy App)
This tool identifies the makeup of various metals. It’s useful for determining whether materials contain lead or other elements in mixed alloys.
Quick, non-destructive analysis
Ideal for use in manufacturing, metal recycling, or industrial inspections

Other Services
Asbestos Surveys
When are asbestos surveys needed?
Anytime there will be a renovation or repair. Since the main asbestos regulations are related to worker safety, air quality, disposal of hazardous waste and local permits there will almost always be one of the regulations that are applicable. This can be confusing because of the overlap of regulations in Southern California.
Lead Paint Inspections
Do my painting projects need a lead paint test?
Lead is toxic and consequently causes health and behavioral problems, especially in children. Because of this, a lead paint survey or lead paint samples are necessary when paint is disturbed on a structure built before 1978.
Mold Inspections
Could I have mold in my home?
Mold can grow within 24-48 hours after a bad water incident, so getting a mold inspection is a great way to obtain a full evaluation of your home or building. We care about your peace of mind, so if you are concerned about the presence of mold or water damage, please call us today.
